Promesa y Esperanza means promise and hope for St. Jude

This year, more than 200 representatives from Spanish-language radio and television gathered in Memphis for the 13th annual Promesa y Esperanza (Promise and Hope) Radiothon Training Seminar. Among the major Spanish-language media represented at the seminar were Univision, Telemundo and Veintiseven magazine.

During the three-day event, VIPs, visiting artists Beto Cuevas and Christian Chavez and many welcomed guests had the opportunity to visit the hospital, meet with St. Jude doctors and researchers and see first-hand what their hard work has helped to accomplish. Special training sessions provided the opportunity for radio talent and personnel to learn about developing and implementing successful radiothons and allowed radio professionals to exchange ideas and share their past experiences.

One of the highlights of the event was the popular "Meet the Patients" session where guests gathered to hear touching stories from Hispanic patients and their families currently in treatment at St. Jude.

Promesa y Esperanza was launched in 1997 and has become one of the most successful radio fundraising campaigns in the U.S. Hispanic market. With 118 stations in more than 64 radio markets, the program has raised much needed funds for the children of St. Jude.
